cardsofwind asked: Technically speaking though, not all reported rapes are true. I'll admit that the justice system is ridiculous when it comes to proving rape (you need to have fresh vaginal semen evidence), but it's patently untrue to say that 15 of 16 rapists get away, because not all reported rapists are actually rapists.

http://nymag.com/news/features/gop-primary-chait-2012-3/ Thank you for sharing this — the Republicans will never stop history from being made. History, like truth, has a progressive bias, and we will continue to move forward whether they like it or not.

Anonymous asked: what do you think about the fact that there is such a wide variety of men in that "second class citizens" video (younger, older, different races, single and in couples, etc) but a pretty standard woman represented (younger, thin, white, societally defined beauty, heavily made up, etc.)? one of the most beautiful things about the queer community is its diversity. i can't support that...

the-womanifesto: Kentucky: I have Rand Paul. He believes that it’s ok for private business owners to discriminate against people for race because they should have a say in every aspect of their own business. He also was one of the leaders in the fight against public broadcasting but used our local PBS station to connect to his national news network interviews during his campaign. Texas: Ron...

Anonymous asked: Maybe if conservatives were saying something new or not completely wrong it'd be worth it to read their news. I read plenty of editorials from all sides of the political spectrum and lemme tell you, you aren't missing much.

our-american-dream asked: You keep confusing conservatism with far right extremism. There are valid points on both sides of the table, but following every single liberal belief for the sake of being liberal is just as bad as following every conservative belief for the sake of being conservative. Also, the best way to combat any ideal that you don't like is to understand why people do like it. You have to understand...

Submission -- VoterFriendly: Responsible iPhone...
Hi! (Sorry, I’ve never submitted anything before, so I hope I’m doing this correctly.) Friends of mine created an iPhone app- called VoterFriendly- which allows users to easily learn about government activities and lets you vote for reps and then see how well they are representing you, based not on what they claim to vote for but what the actually vote for. The app is currently...

leylainwonderland asked: Who do you think President Obama will have a harder time winning against Santorum or Romney? Both are ridiculously flawed, Romney's whole "I'm not a rich guy I'm just like you vote for me! Ill change my position on anything just please vote for me!" thing is not working for him and, Santorum just hates everything except fetuses and they can't vote. So I was just...

Anonymous asked: What do you think of the war between different discrimination? What I mean is people saying things like (just as an example) racism isn't as much of a problem sexism (obviously substituting racism/sexism for any form of discrimination). How do you react when people say things like this to you? Are there some examples where you agree?

Political Discussion Night
Can we start some political discussions tonight? Shoot me an ask — I’d love to talk to all of y’all. (: And if y’all don’t like something I post, don’t hesitate to let me know. I’m open-minded and interested in hearing different opinions — unless of course, it’s something along the lines of “I hate gay people because of the Bible”,...

skafunkle: they were going on and on about how someone they know is a feminist. but how, they claimed, she couldn’t be because she “wears nice clothes” and how you “can’t be a feminist and care about the way you look”. why the fuck not? i put effort into how i look. it’s not for men- it’s not for my boyfriend, it’s not for my fellow male students. it’s fun. i’m aware, i’m not taken in by all the...

religiousragings: …but I sometimes think that we lose site of this.  Simply eliminating the Bible as a source of authority is important, but not enough. The ideas, the hatreds, the thinking that gave rise to the kind of thinking found in the Bible are still very much alive and well in today’s age. There IS no valid reason to be against gay marriage.  There never really was. Homophobia exists...

jamesbinga asked: My Mother is a very very liberal person and she was born and raised in Southern Texas. She said she was always the black sheep and it was tough but she always knew that the way she thought and what she believed was always right and it was the right thing to do. The stares, the negative opinions don't really matter.

Being Liberal in Texas
I stand at the Barnes & Noble counter — bedazzled crosses, and notepads with Bible verses greet me there. Behind me, there are two women talking about how they like a singer’s music, but don’t like to support it much because he’s “left wing”. And I hold up my book to buy it — “Full Frontal Feminism” by Jessica Valenti. The cashier tries to...

Suit Says Obama Can’t Run In Alaska Because He’s...
abaldwin360: Alaska-(ENEWSPF)- A man from Juneau, Alaska, has filed suit with the state’s Division of Elections to bar President Obama from appearing on that state’s ballot on the basis that the President is a “Mulatto”, and “the race of ‘Negro’ or ‘Mulatto’ had no standing to be citizens of the United States under the United States Constitution.” Gordon Warren Epperly, who lists his address...

grrl-meat asked: In response to your post on how women are more religious than men: I wonder if equal amounts of boys and girls grow up in religious households, however because men are encouraged to free-think and be assertive this leads to them leaving the church later on. Do you have any ideas?

Alright -- I'm doing the Bible series.
Y’all seemed interested. (: I’ll do one every Sunday, and continue with my privilege series after I’m done with this. It’ll be posed on YT (unless you all would prefer a written version). Now, should I do just the sections with the commentary, or should I read the entire thing? This is a response to this.
