I’ll be doing a petition on this later on today. Abstinence only sexual education consistently leads to higher rates of STDs, and more teen pregnancies and abortions. Not to mention that it teaches students that sex is something to be shamed about. Sex is natural and as long as it is safe and consensual, it is also good.  People that take “virginity pledges” (which I had to do — good ole’ Texas), keep that promise for an average of 18 months. They will be doing it whether they are taught how to be safe or not.  The bill in Utah would not only prevent them from talking about anything other than abstinence only sexual education, or no sex until marriage, but would also allow schools to skip talking about sexuality at all. Also, talking about homosexuality would be absolutely forbidden.
