In response to your post on how women are more religious than men: I wonder if equal amounts of boys and girls grow up in religious households, however because men are encouraged to free-think and be assertive this leads to them leaving the church later on. Do you have any ideas?
Just from what I’ve seen growing up in the South, women are generally more tied to the church (even though men hold most of the leadership positions). Their social life is there, for one thing. I also think that going to church isn’t really seen as a “manly thing”. It’s not “manly” to put on a suit and sing songs about Jesus (again, just from growing up in the South). So I think it’s much easier for men to leave the church if they want to, but for women, it’s harder. I know many couples where the women go to church and their husbands stay home on Sundays.
But there are really no definite answers.
